Business Intelligence Engineer

AudienceScience, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for an Business Intelligence Engineer
within the Business Intelligence Team. The Business Intelligence Team is tasked with providing business users with actionable data and insights. AudienceScience has a tremendous volume of core data, and deploys cutting edge technologies to collect, organize, and analyze billions of events each day. Reporting to the Manager of Business Intelligence, the successful candidate will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks. This will include streamlining data architecture and collection processes, writing SQL queries, building ETL frameworks, gathering business user requirements, and developing reports for internal and external customers using a number of BI applications including Pentaho and Tableau.

This person will gain valuable experience in data management and information systems, cloud-based data warehousing, and Business Intelligence applications. They will work within a fast-paced, execution oriented team, and be responsible for delivering world class reports and insights to a wide variety of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for accomplishing the objectives and responsibilities outlined below:

  • Work with the data team to locate, clean, and aggregate massive amounts of data
  • Collaborate with business users to identify reporting requirements and design data schemas and processes to automate these reports
  • Perform dimensional modeling using an unconventional Hadoop-based data warehouse architecture
  • Development of complex SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Manage ETL processes and tools, using Pentaho to manage metadata & provide OLAP functionality
  • Design and development of client-facing and internal reports
  • Utilize & integrate best-in-breed visualization tools to deliver key insights to customers
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data & reports

Requirements/Skills:

  • Computer Science, Information Technology or Math/Statistics-related degree preferred
  • 1-3 years relevant experience
  • Mastery of database design, data relationships, and standard DBMS administrative functions
  • Deep skills in SQL query and stored procedure development, preferably on multiple platforms. (PostgreSQL expertise preferred, mySQL, MS SQL)
  • Demonstrated expertise creating ETL jobs and establishing data consistency
  • Knowledge of emerging data frameworks and languages such as MapReduce, Hadoop, PIG, and Hive
  • Prior experience using Business Intelligence tools (Pentaho &/or Tableau a plus)
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
  • Positive attitude and desire to contribute in a team environment
